Attendees will learn how to utilize both display and capture filters to isolate relevant network traffic, navigate the Wireshark interface efficiently, and apply Open Source Intelligence (OSINT) techniques for enhanced network analysis.

Through practical exercises, participants will explore GeoIP analysis for tracking the geographical origins of internet traffic, conduct security analyses to identify potential intruders, and delve into digital forensics for file recovery purposes.

Day 6
7 Mar 2024
9am - 5pm

A.I. and Traffic Analysis

This module provides an introduction into the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in network traffic monitoring and analytics, alongside a practical guide to setting up and utilizing Zabbix for comprehensive network monitoring.

Participants will explore the significance of monitoring network traffic for maintaining security and performance, and how AI techniques can dramatically enhance the analysis of this data. The session begins by examining various traffic analysis tools and AI methodologies, with a special focus on traffic classification and the use of advanced models like Transformers for threat detection.

Participants will then get hands-on experience in building their own AI model tailored for analyzing network traffic, gaining insights into the practical aspects of AI in cybersecurity.

Transitioning to network monitoring systems, the session introduces Zabbix (or Nagios), detailing its architecture, components, and the process of setting up a monitoring server and agents. A practical session on network traffic monitoring with Wireshark will allow participants to apply these tools in forensic scenarios, complemented by the use of Open Source Intelligence (OSINT) techniques for a holistic network analysis approach.

Day 7
8 Mar 2024
9am - 5pm

DDoS Mitigation and Mini-Project Presentations

This module zeroes in on the critical area of Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks, providing participants with a comprehensive understanding of what DDoS attacks are, how they can devastate network operations, and the most effective strategies for detection and mitigation.

Participants will be introduced to the landscape of DDoS threats, examining the techniques attackers use to overwhelm networks and disrupt services.A core part of the session is dedicated to exploring a range of DDoS detection techniques, from basic traffic analysis to advanced anomaly detection methods, enabling participants to identify potential attacks before they cause significant damage.

Participants will have the opportunity to engage in a practical exercise that simulates a DDoS attack and mitigation process, offering hands-on experience with real-world scenarios. This practical component is designed to solidify understanding and equip attendees with the skills to apply learned techniques in their own environments.
